Flower Power

It's a day I look forward every year. My annual trip to the farmer's market to buy some blooms for my little garden. Maybe some folks consider the first nice day of the year to be the start of Spring, or the first day they can wear sandals. For me, Spring isn't here until I make that trip to the market and leave with an armful of the sunniest flowers. It's the day where I can finally be confident that the danger of frost is over. What a day!

And the perfect attire for a day at the market? This delightful circle crop top I recently got at H&M. The crop top trend is still going strong and I love the extra element of flouncy fun in this one! I'm sure I've said it before, but I'll repeat it again: if you're not so confident about your middle bits, pairing a crop top with a nice high-waisted bottom is an easy way for anyone to enjoy this fabulous trend, well into the summer.

Happy gardening!

Like A Million Bucks

Ladies (and gents), you may have noticed that I love a good bargain. It is my firm belief that you don't need to spend a ton on designer labels to make a statement! Even if you're not trying to make a statement, and you just don't want to look like a hobo.

You really can't go wrong shopping at thrift stores and cheap chains. It may take a bit of hunting around and creatively to piece all the details together (see The Devil Is In The Details), but allow me to be your thrifty tutor, your cheap coach, your penny-pinching pedagogue, and you'll discover the wonders of the $5 bin, how to cheap out on trends that you won't care about in a month, and the ever-elusive ripped-up-but-fixable sales rack find.

Ya don't need to spend a million bucks, to look like a million bucks!

Montreal is known for having a split-weather personality (only two weeks earlier, we were still braving the snow!) At long last out of hibernation, we dusted off our wedges and espadrilles and headed for the Old Port.

"In Montreal spring is like an autopsy.
Everyone wants to see the inside
of the frozen mammoth. Girls rip off their sleeves
and the flesh is sweet and white,
like wood under green bark. From the streets
a sexual manifesto rises like an inflating tired,
'the winter has not killed us again!'"

- Leonard Cohen (Beautiful Losers)
