The Forecast Calls for Strong Winds & High Fashion

Sometimes you just need a wind machine to get the full effect of an ensemble. Since we're not exactly Vogue Italia, we decided to take full advantage of the gale-like winds Montreal has been experiencing lately.

The call of the seafoam maxi dress was too much to ignore. The pleated skirt turned live sculpture against the breeze, pirouetting with the apple blossoms (highlight of all highlights in May). For equal parts contrast and compliment, we paired it with a luxurious printed mini dress whose centrepiece (the cape!) practically flew skyward at every gust.

Hold onto your frocks stylites, the forecast calls for strong winds and high fashion!

Rogue Rouge

red lipstick lip colour lips
I love a bright red lip.

If you work in an office like ours, it can be a bit daunting to whip out the rouge on any old weekday. But timidity be damned - there's no rule in the dress code that says lips can't pop!

I love pairing a red lip with an all-black ensemble. It really lets them shine centre stage without being too overwhelming. Apply liberally for some instant spring to your step!

re: Weekend Whimsy
...weekdays are not without their charm.

Remember those dark mornings when you would cling to your down duvet at 7am as if it were water in the desert, the thought of letting go quite unbearable?

Neither do I! (I practically skip to the metro if the sun is shining!)

Days like these call for cascading beads, a vintage handbag and a frock that demands a double take. Trust me, it makes office life a lot more interesting.

The Shoe Closet Switcheroo

It’s that time of year, fashionites. The time to put away those riding boots that seemed so dear to you 6 months ago and replace them with all sorts of open-toed wonders.

Because of my room’s lack of square footage , I keep my babies packed away most of the year in a storage box. And by babies, I refer to my most favorite type of footwear, les sandales
Every year, I seem to experience some sort of shoe amnesia and forget how many sandals I actually own. After I finished unpacking, I was shocked to discover not only the quantity of footwear but the similarity of them all.
All this to say that I can't wait to wear each and every single one of you babies!
A special shout-out to my favorite sandals seen below. Strappy tan-colored sandals in the softest leather you ever did feel.

Monday Funday

Photos by Kyler Kelly

This week, the fairy godmother of calendar years blessed us with the event most readily worshiped by 9 to 5ers: the three-day weekend.
J and I decided that we were not going to let anything ruin this precious celebration. (A little background: Jackie and I, partners in crime at our film subtitling job, spent the last long weekend confined to our cubicles. Tear.)
It turned out to be a perfect day starting with Dim Sum, followed by a mani-pedi delight and ending with some "light shopping."
We carped the hell out of that diem!

I call it my weekend uniform: the all-purpose unitard. Wear it with a maxi skirt, cozy sweater, to dance class, you name it! And just for good measure, I like to throw in a vintage handbag ($2 at a church flea market.)

Vive le week-end!

Montreal is known for having a split-weather personality (only two weeks earlier, we were still braving the snow!) At long last out of hibernation, we dusted off our wedges and espadrilles and headed for the Old Port.

"In Montreal spring is like an autopsy.
Everyone wants to see the inside
of the frozen mammoth. Girls rip off their sleeves
and the flesh is sweet and white,
like wood under green bark. From the streets
a sexual manifesto rises like an inflating tired,
'the winter has not killed us again!'"

- Leonard Cohen (Beautiful Losers)

Sweet Nothings

Photos by Kyler Kelly

The grey and soggy seasons of March and April mean one thing to Montrealers: sugar shack! We forego the comforts of central heating and cell reception to spend a brisk weekend afternoon with friends, flirting dangerously with diabetes and heart disease.
Our company has a spring outing every year and this year, we went to a sugar shack outside of the city. It was on this crisp April afternoon that Debbie and I decided to plunge into the world of self-proclaimed stylistas and launch our blog. It was a chilly, chilly day, but god was I going to rock that fur-lined cape and never look back.
