The Printed Cardigan

Hey Frockers!
Just wanted to share with y'all my new favourite cardigan. I'm not usually one for matching the colour of my outfit in this way, but this ensemble felt quite alright. I picked up this cardigan recently at Target (my new favourite store) for a wallet-friendly 25$. I immediately fell in love with the print. A perfect piece to add to my fall wardrobe.

I have been known to wear sundresses and floral frocks well into the winter season, and I'm here to tell you that you can too! I'm always surprised when people ask me "aren't you cold?" when I wear dresses in January. But I find that acrylic and wool tights are much warmer than cotton jeans. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Before the snow hits the ground, pair your favourite frocks with fun boots and layer on the accessories. I call this ensemble my "prairie rose" look . . . a little bit retro, a little bit cowgirl. Toss on a braided belt and a felt hat and you're ready to chase the pigeons! I couldn't resist.

Do you ever fantasize about having a completely different life? Of course you do...and I do too, any chance I get! Maybe that's what I love about fashion: you can be whoever you want on any given day. I guess if you didn't know me, you might actually think I live in that beautiful, stone brick house. But I fooled you, frockers!
Just another day in my fantasy life.

Robyn à la Mode

Recently, Bouquet of Frocks decided to collaborate with Life is Better Red and the results were delicious! We headed on over to Juliette & Chocolat to share some of Montreal's sweet treats with Robyn of "Life is Better Red" and she returned the favor with a look at one of fall's biggest trends: the classic chambray shirt.

Happy Thanksgiving from Edmonton, where our beautiful fall is in full swing! There
are so many fashion trends that I am loving for autumn: camo, leather, animal print,
boots, ankle straps and of course one of my favourites, chambray. I’ve been all over
my chambray shirt since I picked it up in February, wearing it with maxi skirts, with
pencil skirts, with short summer skirts, with brightly coloured shorts, tucked in,
pulled out, button up, unbuttoned… you name it, I’ve done it!

And that is what I love so much about my chambray shirt, it’s versatility. Now, as we
are moving into fall in Edmonton, there are even more variations. I love the look of a
tailored chambray shirt paired with coloured denim or a skinny military pant.
While going out for a walk to enjoy the gorgeous fall colours on Thanksgiving
weekend, I put together an outfit featuring my well-loved chambray shirt. I paired
the shirt with my favourite pair of coloured denim (to avoid the Canadian Tuxedo),
an extremely comfortable pair of jeans in a rich mulberry. I dressed the outfit up
with a chunky necklace and some sparkly bracelets. I threw on my favourite brown
leather ankle boots and my black leather biker jacket and I was ready to go.

Hopefully this beautiful fall weather will last for at least a couple more weeks, giving
me a chance to show off some more fall fashion before I am forced to hide it all
under my super warm and puffy Canada Goose coat.

We've Fallen And We Can't Get Up

I have rediscovered the art of lying in a bed of golden leaves while staring up at spiralling leaves floating gently down, through the blue sky and yellow canopies, to the silent earth. I feel like the past few years, I've forgotten how to appreciate the beauty in autumn. I was always too busy complaining about how cold it suddenly became, with the dread of 6 months of darkness and soon-to-be frigid temperatures always on my mind. In celebration of this year's unseasonably warm fall, Debbie and I took advantage of likely the last warm weekend of the season and dusted off our short skirts and bare legs for one last hurrah before they go into hibernation.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian Frockers. Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend and guess what, the mall is open today! Here's an outfit I put together that tries to break away from my usual grim, fall wardrobe. With the coming of winter, my wardrobe always takes a turn towards darkness. That's why, I go out of my way to buy a few colourful pieces such as this pink sweater that will both keep me warm and get me out of my black and grey sartorial rut, if you will. If anyone is going shopping today, I hope this pink colour inspires you!
