Winter Finally Caught Up To Us

Calvin Klein coat
Aldo hat
Simons mittens
Hush Puppies boots
F21 jeans

Winter was a bit of a no-show at the end of 2015, but we weren't really complaining. I'm assuming it was all to do with the fact that I finally replaced my old down winter coat after like 5 years and my equally old snow boots with the hole in it. I prepared for a long, cold winter so it decided not to come. You're welcome Montreal. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Winter is here....but at least I'm ready!

Chic Summer Romper

Romper: Jessica Simpson / Hat: F21 / Shoes: Tahari via Winners / Necklace: Smart Set

Usually, when I think romper, I think casual and fun but this particular piece really kicks it up a notch. It's some sort of romper/skort/wrap dress hybrid if you look closely and is really quite chic if you dress it up appropriately. The shortness of the skort portion is balanced out by the longer sleeve which is well thought out. All in all, it's a great summer piece that I found at my local thrift store with the tags still on it (can you believe that?). Nothing makes my day like a good find such as this one. The only thing I'm really missing now is a summer tan!

Bici-Chic

Shorts: Lux (via Urban Outfitters) / Top: F21 / Hat: F21 / Sandals: Old Navy

Nothing I love more than taking the ol' bike out for a spin on one of those perfect sunny days. But I also love a little effortless bicycle fashion too. I discovered the most perfect term "bicichic" on instagram recently and thought that word perfectly captured that kind of vintage image in your head of a charming woman on a bike in a dress with heels hanging off the bike pedals with maybe an Italian city like Rome or Naples in the backdrop...hmm, is it just me? Well anyway, here is my own little version of that look, not quite as cinematic and romantic, but feeling good!

It's Been A Long, Cold Winter

Photos by Kyler Kelly

Coat from China/sweater from Korea/old knit cap/Simons shirt/Winners leather pants/Dizzy rainboots

This winter extension has everyone all bummed out. It gets warm enough for the snow to start melting but then it freezes over into a delightful sheet of ice. It's official. This is the worst winter ever. And that's not even hyperbole. We've broken many a record this winter in Montreal. And just when you think it might be over, BAAAM,....you get slapped in the face with 40km/hour winds and a fresh blanket of the white stuff. We that's not stopping me from transiting from my down armour to some light wool jackets. Keeping looks fresh and fun in the winter is the ultimate stylista's challenge and sometimes the smug satisfaction of spiting the cold weather gods is enough to keep you warm.

In your face winter!

Winter Woes

Photos by Kyler Kelly

Restoration Hardware faux fur hat/F21 sweater/Primark jeans/Zara booties

Winter blahs. Need I say more? I'm deep into the winter semester and wouldn't you know it? Every day I have class just happens to be -20 with a nipping wind. Just great. I wish I had more time for blogging, but between work and school, it's hard enough to even put together a little punchy outfit let alone take some pics. But I'm taking a cue from Debbie and throwing on a statement hat. And along with my go-to remedy for any drab outfit (a red lip for the win!), I'm feeling 40 degrees warmer already.

The British Isles

F21 hat/Le Chateau gloves/vintage boots/coat and scarf from China

My favourite winter coat is a keeper for a reason. You too can achieve countless cute looks with something so classic and versatile. If you're like me and don't really have a few extra hundred bucks lying around to buy new coats every winter, you end up repeating a lot of looks with the same coat. But what's so great about your classic coats is, you can build around the main piece with accessories. Not only do they add that extra bit of warmth you so desperately need in the dead of winter, but they can really diversify your wardrobe in a way to make you feel like you practically got a new coat without forking much dough!

And ever since my trip to Scotland this past summer, I've been kind of obsessed with tartan. It's so colourful! And it's a print that's pretty timeless and easy to pull off. You really can't go wrong with a plaid skirt or scarf in the chillier months. Throw in a neutral wool hat, brown tweed gloves and some lace-up boots and you're ready to frolic in the snow. I just love the "British" feel to this look! It's so simple, but all class with none of the drab.

Stay tuned on the blog for another globe-trotting winter look with my favourite camel coat!

Safari Shorts

Shorts: Mossimo via Target / Top: F21 / Purse + Hat: Thrifted / Necklace: Expression via The Bay / Shoes: BC Footwear via Winners

Loving my new Safari shorts from Target! This is actually a short that can transition well into an evening outfit and take on a very chic persona if combined with the right pieces. However, since I was only going for Sunday brunch, I decided to really play on the Safari look with the neutral colours and my favourite hat. Enjoy!

Zara jeans / Garage top / Thrifted hat and sandals

Just hanging out in the sun after a nice brunch with my girl, Jackie. I went a lil crazy with the bright jeans and the colourful floral top but the summer weather calls for such vibrance. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

Drama Queen

I can hear the fashion police sirens now. What a faux pas! The burgundy lips, the smokey eye, the dark sweater dress, the oxfords, the cloche chapeau...this fashion story screams autumn fairytale, but I had to whip it out in May. That's just how I roll. I may love florals and circle skirts most days of the week, but I am never one to deny my heart's fancy. I dress how I feel. And I just felt like a little.....drama.
