White Dream

Dress: Joe Fresh / Hat: Target / Sunnies: Old Navy

A November vacation gives you one last chance to relish in your favourite white fabrics. I think I spent most days in this lightweight white dress (which I believe I found in the pyjama section of the Joe Fresh store) and what great days those were! Coming back to the chilly weather in Montreal, it almost feels like the vacation never happened but these pictures certainly remind me that it wasn't too long ago I was enjoying the ocean breeze... sigh.
Alas, it's time to get into the holiday spirit and pull out the chunky sweaters and the sparkle. I'm ready now!

Studded Jeans

Jeans: H&M / Top: Smart Set / Hast: F21 / Shoes: Winners / Bag: Vintage

I picked up this pair of jeans at the beginning of the summer and have been wearing them non-stop. They are just the right amount of fun and don't they remind you of your Bedazzler days...
Anyway, now that the first days of autumn have graced us, it's time I start incorporating the colour black back into my everyday rotation (I usually avoid black clothing in summer) so I'm taking these baby steps towards fall fashion. I'm just not ready to start with the big sweaters and the booties yet, I'm a big time summer girl. Throw five more heat waves at me, I can handle it!

Hanging Onto Summer

F21 top and bottom

What can I say? I don't want summer to end!!! Before fall officially begins in 2 days, I thought I'd share some more pics from Hawaii featuring some more swimwear I got a lot of use out of this summer. I'm still a huge fan of one pieces but I rediscovered the bikini this year and my bellybutton has never been so tanned.

Beach Bunny

Long time no see, Frockers! I've been away for a while in Seattle, Vancouver and Hawaii and haven't been interneting very much while I've been gone. Luckily, the Montreal summer decided to stick around for my return and sets the perfect mood for showcasing my new favourite swimswear of the summer.

Sure....summer's fast fading into the horizon, but will live on in my heart and unsightly tan lines until the spring comes once again.

The Salopette

Overalls: Thrifted / White tank: American Apparel / Sandals: Minelli / Hat: Target

Following up the last post, I bring to you another thrifted gem, this navy pair of overalls that were seemingly made for me. Overalls are such a fun and unique look and I quite enjoy wearing them. I wore these to bike around the city and they were perfect. I had been looking for a pair for quite some time and have tried many denim variations but never quite right. And then suddenly these appear at the thrift store and they fit perfect... How does that work?!
Oh yeah, in French, we call overalls salopette hence the title of the post because the word is so much more fun to say.

Pool Hangz

Summer is officially at its peak and I'll be honest, there hasn't been enough time for me to be doing this sort of thing (what you see below). But I finally managed to take the time and got to wear my most recent Joe Fresh swimsuit for the occasion. They are definitely one of my go-to's for swimwear. Hope everyone is enjoying the heat!

Chic Summer Romper

Romper: Jessica Simpson / Hat: F21 / Shoes: Tahari via Winners / Necklace: Smart Set

Usually, when I think romper, I think casual and fun but this particular piece really kicks it up a notch. It's some sort of romper/skort/wrap dress hybrid if you look closely and is really quite chic if you dress it up appropriately. The shortness of the skort portion is balanced out by the longer sleeve which is well thought out. All in all, it's a great summer piece that I found at my local thrift store with the tags still on it (can you believe that?). Nothing makes my day like a good find such as this one. The only thing I'm really missing now is a summer tan!

Bici-Chic

Shorts: Lux (via Urban Outfitters) / Top: F21 / Hat: F21 / Sandals: Old Navy

Nothing I love more than taking the ol' bike out for a spin on one of those perfect sunny days. But I also love a little effortless bicycle fashion too. I discovered the most perfect term "bicichic" on instagram recently and thought that word perfectly captured that kind of vintage image in your head of a charming woman on a bike in a dress with heels hanging off the bike pedals with maybe an Italian city like Rome or Naples in the backdrop...hmm, is it just me? Well anyway, here is my own little version of that look, not quite as cinematic and romantic, but feeling good!

French Connection SS15

Last week, Bouquet of Frocks was invited for a preview of the French Connection Spring Summer 2015 collection. I think it' safe to say we were utterly dazzled by the collection. There were so many amazing stand-alone pieces, it was difficult to pick our favourites.

The common themes we saw among the collection were dresses with a lot of movement, bright colors and some great mixed animal prints. We also loved the trend of white-on-white and mixed fabrics. So many great white pieces with lace detailing, transparent fabrics and even some organza...it was a feast for the eyes!
Debbie getting a closer look at that lovely organza overlay.
We know how much Jackie loves a good mid-calf skirt and this piece was right on point.
This maxi dress was Jackie's final pick for favourite piece. I mean look at it... The dress contains two layers, the slip underneath which hugs the body with a less fitted lace floral layer on top creating movement.
These pieces were part of the 70s hippie section. Gotta love that fringe and that beadwork.
Not surprisingly, this white dress stole my heart. That little flair effect at the bottom makes it really special.

Special thanks to the lovely Charmain Emerson at French Connection for organizing this special preview for us.
