I would definitely say that cardigans are a wardrobe must-have. I myself have several in my collection because nothing helps you hang onto your summer garb long after summer is over than a good ol' cardi. I'm dressing it up with loads of accessories in this look to add a bit more interest to an otherwise plain cardigan from H&M. By the way, for all you short girls out there, I find that accentuating the waist with a belt is a great way to make your short legs look....well not long but not even shorter in those longer skirts. Anyway, back to cardis....I like to round out my collection with neutral colours that go with everything, with one or two textured or fun-coloured design. What can I say? Cardigans are like jeans to me.

We at Bouquet of Frocks love a good deal more than anything. Debbie and I love to frequent thrift stores and vintage shops, and although these hunts are very hit or miss, once in a while, we find gems worth the hours of riffling through the musty racks only to come up empty-handed.

This is one jewel I snapped up recently at one of the popular vintage shops here in Montreal. Can we first just talk about how this was totally meant to be....just look at how perfectly floor length this is on me! Trust me when I tell you that in all my 5 feet 1 inch glory, this NEVER happens. I have to hem most of my pants. I buy "capris" and wear them as regular pants. I have never seen the top shelves in my kitchen.

And I just love the flowy, retro, boho silhouette this number cuts on me. It's so unique and flattering. And we all know about my floral addiction...it was a no-brainer. I love wearing it with the sandals I picked up in India, minimal makeup and free-flowing hair, or tied in a low bun. This number has been a real no-fuss, go-to number for me this summer and the black will wear really well into the fall! Thank you, thrifting gods!
                                                     

Heading Out For A Spot of Tea

Hey Frockers, just sharing some quick pics from a recent outing to afternoon tea at Birks. It's quite an affair. You enter the prestigious jewelry store downtown and low and behold, up a small flight of stairs on your right is a small dining room where you can enjoy some rich sandwiches, desserts and tea while overlooking a sea of diamonds. We just managed to catch the blossom trees too, which seem to only bloom about a week, two if we're lucky, every year. All in all, not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

A Little Spring in your Step

With this sudden burst of warm spring weather, I'm starting to feel inspired by fashion again. I, along with many of you I'm sure, was experiencing a bit of a winter slump. But finally, I can say I feel revived. No more black clothes, I'm all about white, white shoes, white jean jacket, bring it on!

I know we've been hating on winter lately but today I took a moment to appreciate some of my best vintage winter accessories. All the finishing touches on this outfit are 100% vintage and I love the way they add interest. I also wanted to show you guy's last week's two-sided scarf in action, doesn't it look cozy? Well, I'm out now, time to enjoy the weekend!

I'm trying to tell myself that we're in the winter home stretch but you really wouldn't know it from the weather we've been having lately. Sharp winds, never-ending snow and the mercury dipping below -30 are just some of the fabulous features of a Montreal February. And as many of you may know by now, I refuse to heat my apartment to an adequate degree (re: I'm cheap) so you'd be hard pressed to find me sitting at home without being wrapped up in some kind of blanket or scarf or even wearing my coat indoors.

Enter this delicious teal patchwork scarf I snapped up in India! I just love the colours and haphazard design of this scarf and it is so thick and warm. And you guys know how much I love my mismatched prints....I just had to add this to my winter rotation! Keeping warm in a Montreal winter is no joke and this is the next best thing after wearing my bathrobe everywhere. Has that become a thing yet? No? Hey Frockers! I'm finally back with a new outfit post today. The past few weeks have been brutal since the cold here has been relentless and my fashion sense seems so far away from me. Not to worry, I pulled myself together for you guys and brought out one of my most recent thrifted jackets. Such a great find, obviously could not resist those puffed three quarter sleeves, right? I also happened to take these shots on one of the coldest days of the year so, as you can see, my poor little wrists suffered a bit but otherwise I'm bundled up nicely in a combination of furs. I'd like to point out that the scarf is actually 100% faux but it's absolutely one of the best looking faux furs I've ever seen. Ok, I love my winter accessories and all but...Is it too early to start a spring countdown?

A Russian Winter

It's official. We are in the heart of winter and my favourite coat is still going strong! Like I've always said, accessories really make the outfit. Just compare a bold and elegant look like this to the understated class of my previous post and you can hardly believe it's the same coat. I paired this vintage hat with a similar faux fur infinity scarf I picked up in Hong Kong last year, but instead of putting it around my neck, I decided to really go all the way and turn it into a muff. I mean, if you're gonna brave the winter like this you gotta go all the way. And just to keep it interesting, I added a few pops of colour and the transformation is complete. I feel like I just stepped out of a Tolstoy novel or something!

Best Of 2014

We can't believe it's been a whole other year already, Frockers! This year saw a lot of fun fashion events, collaborations with some great companies, a bit of world travel and of course, more great fashion!
