White Dream

Dress: Joe Fresh / Hat: Target / Sunnies: Old Navy

A November vacation gives you one last chance to relish in your favourite white fabrics. I think I spent most days in this lightweight white dress (which I believe I found in the pyjama section of the Joe Fresh store) and what great days those were! Coming back to the chilly weather in Montreal, it almost feels like the vacation never happened but these pictures certainly remind me that it wasn't too long ago I was enjoying the ocean breeze... sigh.
Alas, it's time to get into the holiday spirit and pull out the chunky sweaters and the sparkle. I'm ready now!

Wet Hair, Don't Care

Dress: H&M / Hat: F21 / Sandals: Franco Sarto / Bag: Thrifted

After a long summer of work, work, work, I was finally able to take a vacation. After many months fantasizing about the beach, we finally decided on the charming island of Saint Martin. This island is definitely unique to the Caribbean as it is split between two sides, The Dutch side and the French side. I definitely recommend this destination to everyone as the beaches are breathtaking and the European influence is quite a charming aspect as well.
Here I am rocking my wet curly hair which doesn't bother me at all because I'm in vacation mode.  This simple white dress also has the perfect, simple silhouette which I wish I had more of in my wardrobe. All in all, a very happy moment!

The Little White Dress

The search has begun for THE dress. The dress to end all dresses. The one time in your life you can really look like a fairy-tale princess and instead of furrowing brows of bemusement, you get nods of approval and the occasional gasp of awe.

They say you know THE DRESS as soon as you put it on, but as with THE ONE, I don't really believe in that stuff. Odds are, I'll probably get too frustrated with the many choices and limited budget and end up picking something that "will do." In all honestly, my dream dress would be a flowing Elie Saab number with floral appliques or a Reem Acra beaded cap sleeve dream....But alas, the thousands-of-dollars price tag is enough for me to know it is not for this lifetime, so anything else would probably simply have to "do."

Luckily for me, I'm skipping the next few rungs of the dress ladder down past those poofy bridal gowns synonymous with tying the knot. I really have no interest in looking like a fairy-tale princess. I'd rather use this as an excuse to buy a pretty dress I could wear again. Also, I find those bridal salons to be quite intimidating. So, I have started the dress hunt at a little Montreal boutique called Boutique 1861, where pretty abounds. This is my kinda place! Retro-inspired pieces, lovely special-occasion dresses that aren't your typical taffeta gowns reminiscent of traditional prom dresses, and a collection of little white dresses that could make for very unique and affordable wedding dresses.

Here are just some of the dresses I ended up trying on. What do you guys think?

Heading Out For A Spot of Tea

Hey Frockers, just sharing some quick pics from a recent outing to afternoon tea at Birks. It's quite an affair. You enter the prestigious jewelry store downtown and low and behold, up a small flight of stairs on your right is a small dining room where you can enjoy some rich sandwiches, desserts and tea while overlooking a sea of diamonds. We just managed to catch the blossom trees too, which seem to only bloom about a week, two if we're lucky, every year. All in all, not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

Flower Princess

Maybe I'm a little late to hop on the bandwagon but the flower crown has quickly become my new favourite accessory! I've purchased this one at Aldo Accessories and have also been experimenting with my own creations (coming soon!). Jackie and I recently attended a "tropical" themed party so it was the perfect occasion to debut my flowers, what do you think?

Dress: Italian market / Necklace: Lia Sophia / Sandals: Naturalizer / Headscarf: Thrifted

Hi Frockers! I just got back from my short stay in Europe and am feeling so inspired by the romantic backdrops of the Italian countryside. One of my favourite parts of the whole trip was visiting the little outdoor market where there were several merchants selling clothing, housewares and knick knacks of all sorts. I just couldn't resist this simple little white dress which I picked up for 10 euro...what a steal! I don't think there is anything that can make me feel more Italian than a feminine white dress...I just can't resist.

Brunchin' Good Time

New Look dress/Aldo, F21, Accessorize necklaces/Vintage, Primark rings/Vintage handbag/Le Chateau pumps

There's nothing like a nice white dress with layers of accessories for a Sunday brunch with a girlfriend. I love wearing white because not only is it a great colour for most skin-tones and hair colours, but it offers the perfect backdrop for piling on the accessories and experimentation in the makeup department.

Specifically, I tried out a two-toned lip look for the first time and I think results are encouraging! I used gloss instead of lipstick for a more subtle effect and went with two kind of similar colours: a fuchsia pink on the upper lip and a cherry red on the lower lip. I'm not sure this look would be for every day, but it adds that extra little interest to a more subdued ensemble that I'm always searching for. Happy brunching!

Brunch In The City

BOF was recently invited to a "Brunch In The City" event organized by Bold & Blush PR. This was the first edition in a series of Sunday brunches to be held by Bold & Blush to showcase some of Montreal's up-and-coming fashion and beauty businesses. The companies featured this time around were Shal jewelry, I heart naturals cosmetics and The Female Department online clothing store. The event allowed these companies to bring in their products which attendees were free to purchase.

The brunch also featured manicures by Esthetique Forever Mobile Spa, a live DJ and of course, some fine delectables to make it a true "brunch." Not a bad way to spend a Sunday!
