White Dream

Dress: Joe Fresh / Hat: Target / Sunnies: Old Navy

A November vacation gives you one last chance to relish in your favourite white fabrics. I think I spent most days in this lightweight white dress (which I believe I found in the pyjama section of the Joe Fresh store) and what great days those were! Coming back to the chilly weather in Montreal, it almost feels like the vacation never happened but these pictures certainly remind me that it wasn't too long ago I was enjoying the ocean breeze... sigh.
Alas, it's time to get into the holiday spirit and pull out the chunky sweaters and the sparkle. I'm ready now!

Denim Daydreams

Photos by Kyler Kelly

Dress from China
Globo wedges
F21 sunnies

Denim is the ultimate wardrobe staple. No matter the season, nothing says "cool" quite like a classic blue denim piece. Denim overalls, jumpsuits and dresses have really been having their moment lately and I can really see why. There's no other style that is so effortlessly casual yet chic, and works on so many people, no matter your shape, size, age, where you live or what you do. And it's one of those things where an inexpensive piece can look just as good or better than its $2000 counterpart. All this to say....I'm really loving denim at the moment!

A Little Spring in your Step

Skirt and Tee: Joe Fresh / Jacket and bag: Thrifted / Shoes: Converse / Hat: Target

With this sudden burst of warm spring weather, I'm starting to feel inspired by fashion again. I, along with many of you I'm sure, was experiencing a bit of a winter slump. But finally, I can say I feel revived. No more black clothes, I'm all about white, white shoes, white jean jacket, bring it on!

Hearts and Apples and Retro Amusements

Garage top/Primark shorts/vintage headscarf/Aldo sunnies/Sammydress handbag/old wedges

Nothing is quite like an ode to summertime quite like a pair of denim shorts. I always struggled with buying shorts. Apparently my proportions are really weird, cause if I found a pair that fit me around the hips, the leg openings would be too big. And of course, if I found a pair that was flattering to my gams, it would be impossible to zip it up. Sigh.

Enter this darling high-waisted number that hugged all my curves and bumps just right. Sometimes it just takes a bit of hunting! For this look, I paired it with a stripped crop top, retro do and headband, heart-shaped sunnies and old wedges. Perfect for a retro vibe on a golden summer day at the amusement park!

P.S. Candied apples are the greatest!!

The Wanderer's Closet: Parte Deux

Photos by Kyler Kelly

Aldo sunnies/Primark jumpsuit and shoes/old handbag/bracelets from Turkey

Apologies, Frockers! Usually, Debbie and I manage to post a couple of time before Saturday, but it's been a busy week! I just wanted to share a few more pics of my recent sojourn with you and describe the love affair I'm having with the colour navy blue.

I used to hate navy blue. I always thought it was so boring! I'm so glad I gave it another shot recently because I'm really starting to see the appeal. Navy is actually much richer than I gave it credit for. It's more interesting than straight-up black, and speaking of black, I'm kinda loving mixing black and navy blue in particular (which is great considering my hair colour amirite?) It's like an opposites attract scenario where my dislike actually fuelled a slow obsession that turned into an insatiable curiosity which finally overcame me, and I had to give it another try....classic girl meets navy story!

You may have noticed that there's a certain amount of subversion of expectation that I love in fashion. That's why I'm really looking forward to integrating this new colour into the traditional warmer hues of autumn. While most fall transitions involve a lot of browns, beiges and other warm tones, introducing some colder tones would be a really subtle way to shake things up. Sigh....navy blue and I are really having a moment. And when it's right, it's right.

Most fashionistas would agree that autumn and spring are probably the most fashion friendly seasons of the year where interesting layering takes place and rich colours and textures abound. However, I tend to disagree. My ideal weather has always been those really hot, humid days of summer where you don't even have to ask yourself "Should I bring a sweater just in case?" I love the feeling of that heavy humidity giving me a warm hug and I especially love wearing a tube top without the fear of being cold. So here I am in one of my best summer outfits...Enjoy!

Dress: Joe Fresh (here) / Sandals: Franco Sarto / Hat: Le Chateau / Bag: Nine West (thrifted) / Bangle: Vintage / Sunnies: Ray Ban

If it isn't obvious already, I absolutely love the brand Joe Fresh. You know that clothing section you sometimes notice at the grocery store, well that's Joe. Although their sizing can sometimes be a little tricky, I'd say it's worth the effort finding what works for you. I think this dress says it all. At 19$ regular price, this piece is easy, chic and right on trend. I especially love the added flair at the hem. For anyone looking for stylish, affordable fashion, look no further than the grocery store!
