French Connection 2015 Fall/Winter Preview

Yesterday, I had a chance to take a quick peek at the French Connection Fall/Winter 2015 line and although I gotta say, I have barely begun to explore Spring and Summer, a few pieces from their collections really caught my eye.

The themes of the day were the usual suspects: lots of patterns, blacks, grunge, punk rock and retro styles, with some pop of colours like bright yellow and tomato red. There were also plenty of oversized sweaters and coats, with faux fur collars and capes (which you all know I adore!) But the pieces that really caught my eye were the party looks for Christmas and New Years, not to mention how they incorporated the same kinds of details in more casual pieces as well. It was all about the embellishments and little details. Tons of fringe hems, feathers, sequins and beading! There were so many fun party pieces that really made me rethink my whole winter hibernation habit. I gotta start finding more parties to go to...

It's Been A Long, Cold Winter

This winter extension has everyone all bummed out. It gets warm enough for the snow to start melting but then it freezes over into a delightful sheet of ice. It's official. This is the worst winter ever. And that's not even hyperbole. We've broken many a record this winter in Montreal. And just when you think it might be over, BAAAM,....you get slapped in the face with 40km/hour winds and a fresh blanket of the white stuff. We that's not stopping me from transiting from my down armour to some light wool jackets. Keeping looks fresh and fun in the winter is the ultimate stylista's challenge and sometimes the smug satisfaction of spiting the cold weather gods is enough to keep you warm.

In your face winter!

This is the End

Scarf: Joe Fresh / Coat: Zara / Pants: Smart Set / Booties: Target / Hat: Thrifted

...Or at least I hope this is the end! For now, I'm wearing my favourite white coat from Zara, it is so light compared to most of my winter coats and so it literally feels like the weight of winter has been lifted when I wear it. Luckily, we are starting to see some warmer weather in the forecast so hopefully we can start fresh with some vibrant spring attire. I just can't wait!

BOF Street Style

Coat and Tights: H&M / Scarf: Joe Fresh / Hat, Gloves and Booties: Vintage

I know we've been hating on winter lately but today I took a moment to appreciate some of my best vintage winter accessories. All the finishing touches on this outfit are 100% vintage and I love the way they add interest. I also wanted to show you guy's last week's two-sided scarf in action, doesn't it look cozy? Well, I'm out now, time to enjoy the weekend!

The Two-Sided Scarf

Hey all! Just wanted to continue the scarf theme this week and share with you my number one for this winter brought to you by none other than one of my faves, JOE FRESH. You would think that we'd be starting to pack away our winter gear by now, but not so! Winter is still alive and well here in Montreal and no sign of dying down just yet.
Let me start by saying this scarf is huge! If you're going for that big scarf bundled-up look, this is perfect. It's also a very cozy scarf and the two sides make it super interesting. Two classic patterns coming together, houndstooth and tartan, it's a beautiful thing.

All Wrapped Up

I'm trying to tell myself that we're in the winter home stretch but you really wouldn't know it from the weather we've been having lately. Sharp winds, never-ending snow and the mercury dipping below -30 are just some of the fabulous features of a Montreal February. And as many of you may know by now, I refuse to heat my apartment to an adequate degree (re: I'm cheap) so you'd be hard pressed to find me sitting at home without being wrapped up in some kind of blanket or scarf or even wearing my coat indoors.

Enter this delicious teal patchwork scarf I snapped up in India! I just love the colours and haphazard design of this scarf and it is so thick and warm. And you guys know how much I love my mismatched prints....I just had to add this to my winter rotation! Keeping warm in a Montreal winter is no joke and this is the next best thing after wearing my bathrobe everywhere. Has that become a thing yet? No? Didn't think so....

Holiday Glam

Top: Topshop / Skirt: H&M / Shoes: Zara

Last weekend, I visited Mont-Tremblant for a little pre-Christmas relaxation and pampering. Although the city is most known for its ski resort, we spent most of our time lounging around the hotel and listening to Christmas music, to be honest. Needless to say, it was fantastic!
For my evening outfit, I pulled out some of my favourite holiday classics including my red shoes and this sparkly collar. A real simple ensemble that I like to call Holiday Glam... Work it, ladies!
