Hey Frockers! Here I am looking a lil under the weather but still really loving this simple black and white dress. This is a perfect young and versatile look for wearing to the office or for going out (after work, perhaps), hitting the right tone between cute and sophisticated. I love the simple statement that this dress makes, not too much, not too little. It's also a really easy dress you can just throw on with a pair of opaque tights and some boots and feel completely put together. Easy-breezy!

Pretty In Pink

I got this fuzzy pink sweater in Korea and I'm actually kind of bummed that I haven't been able to wear it much this winter. For some reason, the heat is on full blast at our office and I've had to sport short-sleeves on a daily basis or risk heat stroke.

However, due to my, shall we say...frugal nature...I do keep my apartment at a chilly 18 degrees so I whip out this darling sweater on those weekends at home. Side-note: if you know me, you're probably confused since I tend to start shivering if the mercury dips below 24, but it costs a lot to heat a whole apartment ok?

Anyway, I just love the idea of pairing this sweet, baby pink sweater with an equally sweet, baby blue skirt, chilly as my legs may get. And let's face it. Even if I wore wool pants, I'd still need to throw on a robe and huddle under two blankets to keep warm!

I do believe this might be the first time in my adult life that I've managed to pull off a jumpsuit. I consider myself pretty versatile in the realm of style and I have a pretty good feel for what I like balanced with the logic of what styles look good on me. And through all my years of browsing endlessly through my favourite shops, a jumpsuit has never tempted me...until now. This just goes to show that even if you think you're adventurous with fashion and you have a pretty solid hold on your personal style, there is always room to grow and explore new things.

My outerwear saga would not be complete without this statement coat I picked up at Value Village for five bucks. Yeah that's right. Five. Dollars. Despite some hesitation in the limited styling potential of this baby, at that price, I just had to snap it up.

The bright fuchsia, the over-sized sleeves...no doubt about it, this coat is probably the most unique piece in my winter wardrobe. I opted to pair it with a maroon cloche I picked up in Korea and black boots, gloves and turtleneck. You don't want to overwhelm a look like this with too many crazy colours or accessories. This coat speaks for itself!

Back to Black

 Photos by Kyler Kelly

This is the versatile coat that got me through a whirlwind tour of east Asia. As some of you may know, I went on a trip to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong last November and this coat saw me through the brisk Tokyo evenings, the first snow in Seoul, the unexpected chill of Hong Kong and the return to the imminent winter in Canada.

What I love about this coat is its many faces. You can dress it down with jeans and mitts or dress it up with a dress and silk scarves. And this modest piece of outerwear never needs to be the hero of the story. In this look, I've thrusted one of my favourite long, thick scarves onto centre stage and its rich details are the perfect compliment to the blank canvas of the coat.

Although I do need to trade this model in for a more down-y coat on those sub-zero days, I'm just gonna go ahead and add a black wool peacoat to the list of every woman's must-have winter essentials.

Gold Heels

This black coat is my go-to for a winter chic look. It has quite an enjoyable vintage silhouette with its cropped sleeves and oversized flared body. Adding the patent belt to the mix is my own personal touch...I love a defined waist! I'm also wearing one of my absolute favourite winter accessories: the fur headband. Lastly, the booties are a recent purchase. Who could resist those gold-plated heels? Not me, that's for sure!

Stay tuned later this week as Jackie will feature her go-to black winter coat as well.

Like Debbie, I have a real appreciation for a classic camel coat. The only two things that really make our long, cold winters bearable are the promise of an eventual spring and some fetching outerwear. I've recently began accumulating more of these warm comforts and this flared beauty is by far one of my favourites. This is the coat that makes me feel like a '40s silver screen heroine.

A camel winter coat is a classic staple in any woman's wardrobe. They will never go out of style! And personally, it's nice to take a break from all the grey and black that seem synonymous with the winter months. I completed my retro look with a cozy vintage hat, leather gloves and lace-up booties, keeping the colour palette neutral to perfectly compliment the coat.

I'm practically ready to rendezvous with a dashing count at a train station...

Love is a Trench Coat

Perhaps my favourite article of outerwear, this beige trench-style coat is a classic symbol of elegance. What I love about the trench coat is how it conveys both a powerful but also romantic feeling. Powerful because of the coat's military origins and romantic for its cinematic career (think Casablanca). It's definitely a must-have!

Sweater Season

 Photos by Kyler Kelly

We are deep into sweater season and it's not always easy to stay warm and chic. Wool can be itchy, cashmere can burn a hole in your wallet...what's a girl to do? Honestly, when I'm out hunting for a sweet secondhand steal, sweaters are some of my favourite game. You can find some really unique pieces that just brighten up an otherwise lacklustre winter wardrobe. And when really thick sweaters can run upwards of hundreds of dollars, you really can't beat the price tag either.

Here's to a warm and cozy winter!
