One of the things I hate most about winter is the ritual of packing away our favourite skirts and dresses, never to see the light of day. I maintain a firm belief that trousers need not be winter's go-to garment. Though you may not want to venture out of doors literally in bare skin, who's to tell you a trip to the museum, high-tea with your cousin, or any ol' Tuesday can't be kicked up a notch? There's no lighter feeling than a tulle skirt that just seems to float around your body. Hello old friend, it's been too long...

My Mary Jane Manolos

I can still remember the day these became mine. I was working at American Apparel at the time and had access to the internet on the store's computer. I had placed my bid on Ebay a few days back but now time was running out. A few minutes before the auction was closing, an online bidding war ensued. I remember the adrenaline I experienced re-bidding several times and that torturous wait for the page to reload. Most of all, I also remember my co-workers at AA cheering me on and sharing in the extreme excitement with me. When the ebay auction closed, well obviously, I WON! All I can say is, I'll never forget that day...the day I bought my first pair of Manolos.

Going To The Ice Cream Social

I love nearly all things vintage and retro, but I have a particular soft spot for the '50s and '60s. There's nothing I love more than a good circle skirt or fit n' flare dress paired with romantic waves and sensible heels.

So you can imagine the puddles of drool that formed around my laptop when I spotted this seafoam polka dot number from Modcloth. The skirt needs a bit of help in the flare department (nothing a few swings of the hips can't fix) but this piece is a true timeless classic.
